UI in the same category as 6 large southeast asia

University of Indonesia entered the elite ranks of the top six in Southeast Asia, was ranked 50th best university in Asia.

"This ranking is based on the assessment issued by the Asian University Rankings-QS.com, against 200 universities in Asia on May 13 last," said Vishnu Juwono, Head of Communications Office of the UI, today.

He mentions UI outperformed several leading universities in Asia, such as the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (ranked 56th), University Kebangsaan Malaysia (58), and Tokyo Metropolitan University (64).

Indonesia should be proud, he said, because the five best universities included in the assessment criteria. UI is ranked 50th at the University of Gajah Mada (85), Airlangga University (109th), Bandung Institute of Technology (113), and Institut Pertanian Bogor (119).

Rating assessment is based on four main criteria, namely research quality, teaching quality, graduate employability, and internationalitation.

For grades per subject, said Vishnu, the results obtained by the UI is the field of arts and humanities (rank 18), life sciences & biomedicine (27), natural sciences (44), social sciences (23), and the IT & engineering (50).

According to him, the effort to achieve international standards supported by a number of UI student achievement are carved on the international arena, such as FKG UI student who became the Scientific Research Competition Winner on The Asia Pacific Dental Students Association (APDSA), FH UI students succeed becomes 1st Runner Up International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot in Brisbane
